CAREERS EDUCATION, INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE
Carmen Solis-Pardo is our Careers Lead.Carmen is currently working towards Teach First's Careers and Employability Leadership Programme.
Lansbury Bridge School is working towards the Gatsby Benchmarks, and we have links with Career Connect, St Helens Chamber and Liverpool City Region.
Currently, pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4 receive support from a careers advisor who will develop a Careers Action Plan with / for them. This will be used as a tool to measure pupil progress and the impact of the Careers programme for each young person. Pupils are encouraged to be as independent as possible and gain life skills experience throughout the week in and out of the classroom. Teachers are encouraged to make links to the world of work where possible in their planning and delivery across the curriculum. We have held Futures Fairs for the last two years, and will be holding a Careers Event jointly with Mill Green in 2019.
Careers are discussed with parents and pupils during Transition EHCP reviews during Years 6, 9 and 11, where future plans are considered. This helps inform post 14, 16 and 19 provision for pupils.
Our future plans include introducing Careers to Year 6 creating a Careers library and further developing the Careers curriculum. We also hope to create some 'job taster' opportunitites within school, for pupils to gain some experience of work.
