Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Lansbury Bridge School

It is an absolute privilege for me to be the Head of such a wonderful school. We are a large special school, our motto of ‘Learn, Believe & Shine’ is evident throughout every aspect of our community. We are supported by a diverse and talented governing body, experienced and dedicated staff, engaged parents and most importantly fantastic pupils who are the heart of our school and the reason why we continually strive to further enhance our educational offer to them.

The concept of community is important to us all. We are fortunate to have such amazing facilities, our sports hall, swimming pool, hydro pool and extensive grounds (housing our Forest School and our Horticulture projects). We regularly look for new opportunities to benefit both our school and the local community of St Helens.

We are all aspirational for our pupils and aim to provide an enriching and wider world view through our curriculum and educational and social experiences. All of our children have Education, Health & Care plans (EHCPs) which we aim to address and integrate into the pupils’ educational journeys in order to maximise their progress and overall success.

We are registered for pupils aged 3-16, so our pupils are often at our school for most of their childhood. The significance of this is acknowledged by staff and further motivates them to deliver only the best experience. This commitment is evident in the wonderful, caring relationships that are quickly encouraged and established with staff and extended to peers. There is a feeling of family across the school and is strongest within each class group.

Each class team are particularly aware of Section E of the EHCP. The contents of these documents are influencing factors that help us to specialise our approach. We always aim to find and use the best strategies to engage to benefit holistic development (Cognition and learning/ Communication and interaction/ Social, emotional and mental health/Sensory and physical). Working with professionals from a range of disciplines is important to us, we welcome their specialist advice, training and interventions.

Please enjoy exploring our website to discover more about our impressive school. It captures a flavour of how amazing our school is.

Whilst currently we are not able to offer school tours, if you share our passion to make a difference for children and young people with SEND within St Helens please get in touch or check out ‘current vacancies’ section of our website.

Warmest regards,

Carole Austin,
