School Dinners

School Dinners are provided by our Catering Team, through St Helens Council. Children have access to healthy, balanced and nutritious meals each day including a selection of fruit, yogurt and juice. Our menu runs on a 3 week rota and provides a vegetarian option each day.

The cost of a school dinner is £2.40 per day (£12.00 per week) and payments are collected each Monday morning. Please send payments in a sealed envelope with your child each Monday clearly marking their name, group and amount enclosed on the envelope. Adequate notice must be given if you wish your child to change to packed lunches throughout the year.

** From September 1st 2019 school meals will cost £12.00 per week (£2.40 per day.)

If you are in receipt of any of the following support payments your child may be entitled to receive free school meals:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

Children who receive a qualifying benefit in their own right are also allowed to receive free school meals. Children under the compulsory school age who are in full time education may also be entitled to receive free school meals. All Key Stage 1 children now qualify for Universal Free School Meals.

If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals please call St Helens Council's Education Benefits Team on 01744 675216 for further details.
